Following a graphic road that between natural canyons, leaving the sea behind, you arrive at the Gran Hotel Benahavís a new and exclusive hotel. Surprisingly, at just ten minutes drive from Puerto Banus you are at Benahavis, a typical Andalusian town of white houses known as "The Gastronomic Corner of the Costa del Sol", due to its 30 first-class restaurants.

This picturesque site is found at the slopes of a mountain range, on the banks of the Guadalmina River, surrounded by luscious vegetation of typical aromatic Mediterranean plants and flowers. The village is only 50 kilometres from the Malaga and Gibraltar airports and 22 kilometres from Marbella.

Benahavís itself is an Arabic name. The name comes from the word Ben (son of) and Havís, a Moorish king that reigned in the X century. From the Gran Hotel Benahavís you can see a magnificent panoramic view of the village and the surrounding countryside that will give you an idea of this idyllic location.

Our hotel is constructed in the "cortijo" style (Andalusian farmhouse) with a total of 95 rooms, including 5 pairs of adjoining rooms, 5 junior suites, 6 one bedroom and 4 two bedroom suites. All the twin beds can be converted into double beds.

The rooms, decorated with luxury materials, are all individually air conditioned. Many have large balconies or terraces where you can enjoy the beautiful views of Benahavis and the surrounding mountain range. All the rooms are equipped with a mini-bar, telephone, satellite TV, safe and ironing facilities. The bathrooms are equipped with showers, hair dryers and a variety of amenities in our bathroom courtesy pack. Both suites and adjoining rooms have their own jacuzzis with the suite bathrooms being furthermore advantaged with a separate shower. The hotel has two rooms reserved for the handicapped and the whole third floor is assigned for non-smokers.

Kite-Surfing :
Courses in the new and most spectacular sport, that makes its impact in the beaches of whole the world. With basic techniques and a few hours of practice the result is surfing with the aid of a kite flying over water and jumping over waves.

Trekking and Canyon Climbing :
The descent of canyons or Barranquismo consists of going through the rivers that have formed gorges and water falls, combining techniques of climbing, speleology and swimming. Close to the Gran Hotel Benahavís you will find one of the best canyons with crystalline water, even in the month of August. For the more courageous at the Natural Park of Grazalema's mountains you will find the Canyon of the Buitreras, and the Guadiaro River which is 5 kilometres in length and has some very impressive zones.

Scuba Diving :
PADI Official Centre Courses ranging from beginner to advanced levels. A certification is available for initiation to sea diving. Diving outings are organised to discover the marine fauna and the flora of the marine on the Costa del Sol.
